“Abbozzo Gallery is pleased to present Burn's fourth solo show at the gallery, titled ATLANTIC, an exhibition of new paintings that brings a fuller sense of the Nova Scotia coast into her sustained exploration of the ocean. In ATLANTIC, she expands her views to include the surrounding coast, grounding the paintings in the landscape she knows as home. Together, the works consider how a place becomes part of our lives, even as its appearance changes with every return.”
“The ocean remains familiar to me without becoming repetitive, it continues to inspire me in new ways,” says Burns, “for me, it’s an endless source of inspiration.” That enduring curiosity animates ATLANTIC. Rooted in her own experience of home, the exhibition leaves room for viewers to recognize something of their own relationship with the sea. Its shifting viewpoints invite a renewed attentiveness to the water, and to the ways a place can continue to move us after years of looking.
